Web site design has evolved over the years, and now follow some guidelines provided by web 2.0 standards.  This for many business sites usually focus on a lot of white space and less flash, but also includes many interactive sections.  Interactive refers to sections of the website that will update without transferring to a new page.  Some web sites over do it where they try to make everything interactive, but this sometime can get annoying since as you move your mouse around things happen that you may not want or expect.
